For
the second time Nike is back with its hugely successful 'Jumpstart UK'
fitness training plan, designed to motivate women and boost fitness levels
after the festivities that Christmas inevitably brings.
Jumpstart, found at www.nikewomen.com/uk, attracted over 35,000 women
in autumn 2003. Jumpstart offers women the chance to go online and choose
a training plan to cater for their individual needs whether those are
for a beginner or for someone who exercises regularly.
Women of all fitness levels can take advantage of three different 4 week
training plans-running, cross training and a home based plan. The inspirational
plans are designed to offer the best advice possible from leading experts
and world famous athletes. Jane Wake, Nike's fitness expert and two of
the finest athletes Great Britain has produced, Denise Lewis and Paula
Radcliffe, have given their input and helped to design the expert training
plans which require an element of dedication-there is no magic wand.
Jumpstart aims to educate women by combining elements which suit the individual
and allow women to progress at their own pace. The usual excuses, such
as forgetting your kit or not being able to afford a gym membership, do
not apply.
As England's greatest distance runner, Paula Radcliffe says, '"I
know I'm biased but I really do think running is one of the best forms
of exercise out there. It's great for fitness levels, leaves you feeling
invigorated and after getting into a regular rhythm will make you feel
full of energy. I always train hard in the New Year as it is the way I
mean to go on, but it is hard and you need to push yourself, and a bit
of external advice always helps, and that is where Jumpstart comes in."
Denise
Lewis, who is spearheading the cross-training element of Jumpstart, comprising
gym and studio work and swimming to name but a few, states, "Everyone
finds it hard to get going after Christmas-even me! Jumpstart offers us
all a great opportunity to get going in the New Year.
It encompasses a variety of
different fitness plans including my personal favourite, cross training.
As it is offered online it means it's really flexible and allows you to
decide when and where to work out; in other words, exercise is on your
terms.
The variety of the fitness plans available offer enough choice to keep
us all motivated, which undoubtedly is one of the keys to success."
To get you started, Nike has teamed up with Virgin Active to offer free
day passes and an exclusive 2 for 1 gym membership for those people who
sign up.
The Jumpstart site goes live from 1st January 2004.
